Straightening Hair

During Summer the weather in Korea is like super humid.
I've naturally little bit curly hair but the humidity made me look like a poodle,So many people asked if I had a perm

Even my host sister thought it wasn't my natural hair
Until I finally made my mind and got a straightening perm
at some random hair salon in Konkuk University (건대입구) area

I was doubting if I should get the perm or not since I had only heard bad things about it.
How it wouldn't last more than a week,
or
How it would totally kill my hair.

Half Singaporean Half Japanese Jes who has lived around the world,
Moved from hostel to her host family's place for the very last week

My friends went to get their hair done and I did't want to just sit there and wait so I just gave it a shot.
It was the best decision of my hair life haha

---

I was called the trouble hair cause obviously western hair is really different compared to thick Asian hair.
They really had trouble with my weak curly hair so I got a treatment at the same time.
They put this big machine to my head which I've only seen in movies.
It felt weird when my head felt like really cold but otherwise it was warm.

I don't know much Korean vocabulary when it comes to hair things so my friend just told the hair dresser to cut me bangs without me knowing lol

It was a nice experience and different compared to getting your hair cut here in Finland.
First the salon was huge and there wasn't only 1 person doing your hair but 4 in my case ...
And all of the workers were so good-looking !!

There was like 2 guys straightening my hair from the sides and a girl from the back.
It was interesting.
They just told me to say if it was too hot but I got served cold juice so it wasn't that bad.

Actually I ruined the straightening the very next day cause we went to a family trip to Gyeonggi-do and I swam there.
You shouldn't water your hair for few days after doing perm!! They didn't mention me that cause I was foreigner but luckily knew it beforehand

Few days later when we got to Seoul I went back to the salon and they did my hair again for free !
Really good service, price was only like 70 euros, I know it's quite expensive in Korea but I've been really satisfied with the result and the salon was anyway expensive place.

A guy group would have came to hit me if they knew I spoke Korean.
eavesdropping ftw (Y)

This Is Halloween, Witches

Halloween Friday.
I was totally overbooked that day just flying from place A to place B.

Got my high school diploma in English from my old school first.
I totally forgot how passionate art students are to dress up. Really it felt like I stepped into some kind of Wonder Land. All of the students, even teachers had dressed up.
Wanted to walk around the school just to see the costumes but I was in a hurry so just picked up my diploma from the counselor.

Ye ye Ready to send my application to Korea University pretty soon !

I had 2 parties where I had promised to go but ...
Didn't have time for the first "only vegetarian food" party so skipped eating and went straight to the "Drinking&Clubbing" friends' place
That was more my thing.

My Korean friend told me that Itaewon is the place to go on Halloween night.
Feels like a dream to think that I'll be possibly hanging out with Korens and my bby Julia next year this time.
Have to buy my own cat ears before that haha

Waiting to see how they dress up for Halloween there.
And Clubs.
In Korea, I only went to clubs with guys
Didn't have clubber girlfriends or they were underage ㅠ
So didn't really experience the "Magic" of Korean night life haha

Julia came to Helsinki for few nights so partying continued till Tuesday.

Went to eat to Korea House, oh gosh how I've missed Korean food.
We were about to leave the restaurant when there came quite big group of Koreans.

I've a msg tone that says in Korean "Msg arrived reply please~"
Just on a right time there was silent moment and Dadaang "Msg arrived reply reply" broke the silence
Oh God it was so embarrassing ! Tried to turn the voice off but I was too slow lol
You can't imagine how awkward the few seconds were after that.
One older guy from the Korean group asked if we spoke Korean cause of the msg tone so ended up to speak a little Korean too.

 Ahjumma spoke so fast

Tried Finnish Bubble Tea for the first time !
I had only tried some super healthy tea versions so this was a nice change,
really liked it ~

Welcome To Busan

Was it 4th day on the camp we had this activity called "citeering"
Basically it meant that we got free time to wander around Busan.

We had few missions too.
For example we had to buy a souvenir which all of us would remember forever for 1 000won (about 7e)
We bought family socks lol

We went to some random little "zoo" on top of a department store.
There were only little animals like rabbits, pigs etc.
and us

Our group was so .. well, easy-going that we went inside a bunny cage to take photos but a guardian asked us to get out of there.
We had "we're foreigners card" so they weren't that mad  ahaha

We went to eat to a buffet-like restaurant.
You decide 1 meal, we took bulgogi, and you can ask for more as much as you want for the same price.
As always, there were a loooot of side dishes so only 2 big plates of bulgogi was enough for us all ...

The difference between Asian and Western food is really huuge,
I've came to that opinion now almost 3 months after my trip and probably 7kg fatter.
I eat pretty healthy always since I'm diabetic but I lost really a lot of weight in Korea. Even tho I ate shit loads of food.
In Korea there's a lot of side dishes so I was never able to finish even 1 bowl of rice.
Oh Koreans were so surprised of that

Here In Finland we use a lot of fat and wheat in our diet
=  Hello 10 extra kg  and I'm not even surprised

Busan's famous Hotteok for dessert ♥

Our Leader was so sweet, before going to the restaurant he had bought hair ribbons for us girls !
All of us had different ones which he thought suited us the best.
I got big blue bling bling ribbon haha

Our time was up so we had to head back to the Busan Tower.
Found that love chair thingy and a lot of couple locks from there.
Eun Bin and me wanted to take a photo together in that heart chair but the rest of our group decided to come in the photo too haha

"Be a Dragon !"

Ahjumma Day

It's been exactly a year since me and my friend won a trip to Hollywood
I remember exactly when we were sitting in a taxi and watching our mouths open oddly dressed American people.
"Omg, I can see her panties ! "

It was pre-Halloween weekend.

We participated to Universal Studios' airguitar video competition thingy
and accidentally won 5 days trip to Hollywood.
There were also winners from France, UK and - surpriiise- Korea.

France, Finland, Korea

The lady next to me in the first photo spoke quite good English so we got close.
On our last night we had a drinking party at the French kids' hotel room
It was ... exciting night lol

I met those 2 ladies in Korea last summer again.
They wanted to take me out to eat but guess what they asked me to try ?
Dog meat.
It's good for your skin at least !

Well, I said I can't eat it so we headed to some expensive hotel restaurant in Gyeonggi-do.
Ate pasta.
They made me drink beer cause they knew I'm good at drinking

The older sister's husband drove us there by car, also the sisters' kids wanted to meet me but the sons' had work and a girl my age was studying in Philippines at the time... Next year then.
It was nice to drive around and see different places.

Korea really has amazing landscapes.

Koreans, no matter what age, seem to love taking photos ...
The younger sister even sent my photos to her superpretty!! daughter.

We hang out only about 4 hours since I had a meeting with my friends later in the evening.
For some reason my beloved friends were ALL over an hour late. Oh Jes, always late

I waited and waited at the subway station and out of a sudden this nice looking guy came to hit me.
No one has ever hit me on a street before lol
We talked few mins changed Kakao IDs and he left.

My friends came and we were thinking where to go and accidentally bumped into that guy again !!
That is pretty impossible in Korea since the population isn't the smallest ...

For Some reason the guy ended up to a cafe and noraebang (karaoke) with us.

Me and my host sister wanted to go to a bar in Gangnam with him and his friends but since my host sis' was still underage she had to go home early.

At the time I still lived alone in a hostel in Hongdae so for me it was okay but didn't wanna go alone with like stranger guys.
And an hour subway trip from Gangnam to Hongdae wasn't really alluring either so bought 닭강정 chicken instead.
 Love it ♥

Fun Or Not

The third day in Busan started with "Stone Art" academy.
I was excited about it since I was going there together with Eunsik from my team.
I thought it was my time to shine since the academy was about arts.
I'm an ex-art student after all !!
But I was completely wrong.

For an hour we just sat and listened to this famous stone artist grandpa to talk about his life.
In Korean.

Eternal painting. The stone powder never changes its color.
Wanted to try it ㅜㅅㅜ

Eunsik and me were just taking selca and talking in kakaotalk to each other all the time ..
The grandpa probably saw it cause later he asked where Eunsik was from and when he replied "Daegu" Grandpa burst out laughing and said he thought Eunsik was foreigner too since he was getting so well along with me.

I've this thing with people holding hands, I love it. Another thing what I love is when people take care of me.
When we were going to the academy the elevator was crowded so I couldn't get out well so this one guy took my hand and pulled me out of there. According to my experiences Korean guys never do that !!
Guess who was on cloud nine. Lol no kidding

Weather wasn't the best but we went to to beach anyway.
My friend Younhwa and Eunsik are best friends so they tricked me and ended up carrying me to the water ..
Also my room mate Eunbin was a victim.

Last summer in Finland when I went to the beach with Koreans but no one dared to do that kind of thing to me cause well, I'm a bit precise about my looks. I was sad - even blogged about it !-
Now it was my time to be part of the fun finally ! Haha

Younhwa & Anni

My Finnish friends never allowed me to wear a white, tight-fitting t-shirt in Korea
- Don't ask me why the reason is booobs -
But since I wasn't with them at the camp I thought it was time to take advantage of that. Lol
It was just a normal shirt but for those girls it was total no no.
People who know them understands

I was pissed so it was my revenge to wear it at the times when they couldn't say that I can't wear it.

Daily Life

I was supposed to blog way more often but I've a good reason for my silence -

I GOT A JOB !

I started working at Hesburger -local burger restaurant- few weeks ago.
It's not the best nor the easiest work but what else can you get without any experience or education in Finland ? - nothing.

Actually the pay isn't THAT bad.
I get like 8e for an hour, that's 80% of the normal pay cause I'm still a trainee

The work takes a lot of energy or maybe it's cause I've never ever worked before
especially cause for the last 6 months I've done nothing but partied.
After the 8 hours shifts I've been like dead tired,
right after coming back home I usually only eat and go to bed.
Anyway it's much easier to wake up in the morning when you know you'll get paid for that !

Really it's like the best feeling to finally waste the money on something you've wanted and know that you've worked hard to get it.

Back to Summer Back to Korea

The second day of the camp in Busan !
The monsoon season started and oh gosh ..
I've never seen so hard rain before.
Not even in Thailand or Vietnam

We were supposed to go to the beach and have some kind of water sports
but that program got cancelled due to the rain ...
-u know korean rain isnt good for ur hair or skin cause it's slightly acidic or sth

So we went to a Marine Museum !

Didn't take any photos of the fishies tho ...
Some magazine wanted to interview me so they also asked us to pose with that random boat lol
The interviewer just asked things about Finland and asked me to compare it to Korea and so on

It took so much time so our group didn't have time to walk around the whole place
(ㅡ ㅈ ㅡ'')

The little baby bird grabbed to my friend's shirt suddenly

Me and my room mate EunBin had a little misunderstanding on the first day so both of us thought the other didn't like the another one. This day for some reason we got really close.
Accidentally we had the same clothes, ''Couple look''
and we were just taking selca in the buss all the time

I had really good luck that EunBin was also studying in the same university where the camp was held.
So she logged in to the univ's  fast wifi connection from my phone cause she didn't need it.
Oh yeah I was happy, most foreigners didn't have any kind of net connection there ~
